Summer lingered on here in Kentucky just as long as it could but Fall has finally nudged the door open enough to take residence. I love this time of year and I fear that due to its late arrival, Fall won’t stick around long. But weather here is crazy so who knows?
As homemaking goes, I failed at Fall. I didn’t get any mums out, I didn’t bake any pumpkin scones. Nothing I can do about that except hit Christmas extra hard.
I’m a bit of a traditionalist in that I try to keep Christmas behind Thanksgiving in its rightful place. Last year, I let it creep in a little with some early Christmas music and a few Hallmark movies. I switched my radio dial over to XM 17 Holly this week and while I enjoyed hearing some tunes I hadn’t heard before, the warm sun and golden leaves just didn’t go with the music. I went into Bath and Body Works to pick up gifts for Teacher Appreciation at daycare and it was full on North Pole: music, scents, decor. It was a little too much on a perfect fall day. So, I don’t think I’m ready yet.
I do plan to blog my attempts at an organized Christmas again this year, and hope to get a post up this week.
In the meantime, Happy Fall!
