If you like to cook, you most likely also like to eat. Or at least I do. And if you like to eat, buying groceries is a necessity, albeit a sometimes annoying one.
For a few years prior to the pandemic, I shopped nearly exclusively through Kroger’s Clicklist curbside pick up service. I would say that for the most part, my experiences were good but when they were bad, boy, they were pretty bad! I once got home and had the wrong groceries and Kroger’s response didn’t make me any happier. Another time, I was also shorted about $25 worth of stuff after waiting nearly 45 minutes for the order. They did make that right.
During the pandemic, we started using the Instacart option for Kroger. It was okay but I didn’t love it. The success of your order really depended on your shopper that day. Your shopper also texts you as they shop with updates and substitutions so you needed to keep your phone near while they shopped in case they needed you.
When Wal-Mart began advertising their delivery program, I was skeptical because I’ve never been a big fan of Wal-Mart period. However, I decided to give it a try at the end of November. I haven’t looked back.
Much to my surprise, I’ve been totally impressed with Wal-Mart’s delivery program. You place your order through their app or website. A Wal-Mart staffer prepares your order and then a driver picks it up-sort of like DoorDash. So unless your driver snoops, they don’t know what you’ve bought so it’s a bit more private. You’re alerted of any replacement options or cancelled items about an hour before the delivery.
To date, I’ve never been shorted an item. On one occasion, the driver brought me someone else’s produce. I tried to tell him that I didn’t order it but he wasn’t having it. The manager later called me to apologize and told me to keep the food. It was actually really good stuff-honeycrisp apples!-so I definitely came out on the winning side of that. Also, they will occasionally bring you some samples or a small gift. The last order I received before Christmas included a cute snowman reusable bag stuffed with some food items, a loofah sponge, etc.
If you’d like to try Wal-Mart pickup or delivery and have never used it before, here’s a referral code to save $10 on your first order. (I’ll get $10 too when your order is complete). Happy shopping!
